Maternity Outfit of the Day: Styling Asos Maternity Track Pants

Sport and athletic-inspired looks have been so big for the past few seasons. I didn’t really gravitate toward the look pre-pregnancy, but then I saw these studded track pants from Asos. Over the top? A bit, maybe. Comfortable? Yes. Easy to style? Well, I thought they would be, yet I’ve had a really hard time with them. No matter what I’ve paired the pants with, nothing has felt natural and easy. We’re having a cool, rainy Texas day today, so I made it my mission to wear the darned pants that have been pining to see the light of day for a couple of months.

track pants 004I’m still not 100% loving the look but here’s the old college try. The top, a non-maternity Ann Taylor lightweight cowl sweater from last fall seems to add some girth where I don’t particularly need it on my 28-week preggo body. The sandals are not right either. I think it needs either a sportier overall vibe or a dressier one. The key is that I finally committed to wearing the pants since they can’t go back at this point. I’m thinking my next attempt will involve a more body conscious top to show I have a bump and not just a beer gut and a shoe that’s a bit more bare.

A note about the fit of these pants: I assumed that I would wear a larger size since they are European. I was really wrong. These seem to run really large, plus they are literally growing on me as the day wears on. If you decide to order them, go down at least one size from your usual U.S. size.

What I’m Wearing
